Nagato Uzumaki (Pain) – Philosophy

Nagato Uzumaki also known as Pain is a fictional character in the Naruto series anime/manga created by Masashi Kishimoto. He was the leader of the outlaw group Akatsuki. That aims to capture the tail beast sealed in different corners of the world in different shinobis. He made his first appearance in chapter 238 Naruto Shippuden Episode 128: Tales of a Gutsy Ninja. Junpei Morita voiced him in Japanese.

Background

During the second shinobi war, Nagato Uzumaki was born. Nagato is a descendant of the Uzumaki clan, he is indirectly related to Naruto Uzumaki. He was the son of Ise (Father) and Fuso (mother). The Ninja from Hidden Leaf village needed shelter and food. His parents tried to leave without being noticed but they were caught. The Ninja killed them. So the person moved out of his house killing his parents to live in another place. As the result, Nagato’s hidden abilities the Rinnegan awakened for the first time to kill the intruders and avenge his parents.

Nagato’s Rinnegan

Madara planted the Rinnegan without his knowledge. After Nagato’s parents were killed, he had no place to go. He started walking from place to place looking for food and shelter. Along the way, he met two other orphans Konan and Yahiko three of them started traveling together in search of food and to learn Ninjutsu to protect themselves from the aggressors.

Encounter with Jiraya

After the end of the war. The group ran into the Legendary Three Ninja also known as the Sannins (Jiraya, Tsunade, and Orochimaru). Jiraya was responsible for taking part in the war. He wanted to help these people when he finished teaching them how to live and find food. But he would not teach them what is called Ninjutsu, which is a type of fighting art. Later on, they were attacked by people from Iwagakure village shinobis. who wanted to save him and his friends Nagato used his Rinnegan power and saved Jiraya’s life, this made Jiraya change his mind about teaching the trio ninjutsu. He helped them for many years before he felt that they were ready to use their skills in their own country and left.

Yahiko death

Three, later on, formed the Akatsuki with a goal to bring peace this was seen as a threat to the dominance of Hanzou the Salamander who was the leader of the Hidden Rain Village, approached the Akatsuki and offering them to work together on peace but Hanzou was interested in keep his power over the Hidden Rain Village then by peace and then he ambushed the three friends along with help of Danzo’s Anbu. Using the Konan as a hostage they threatened to killed Konan if Nagato doesn’t kill Yahiko. Yahiko not wanting to force Nagato to make the choice, eventually ends up taking his own life. He was still hopeful that Nagato will change the world for the better.

Pain philosophy

The incident that happened to Nagato in the past caused him to rethink his ideas for peace. Thatis nothing more than a foolish dream, the world will never end the cycle of hatred, so his methods to achieve peace changed, Nagato then led a rebellion and took control of the Hidden Rain village by assassinating the Hanzou the Salamander.

Through the death of his best friend Pain’s philosophy was born. Pain is a philosophy. He’s not your average person, but he doesn’t want to be an idea either. That would make him intangible and he wants to experience the world, even though it will only bring about more pain. Pain believes the world was in the never-ending cycle of hatred and death and the only way to achieve peace was through experiencing pain and suffering. This philosophy led many people down deep dark paths, but they found solace in their own sorrow as well as comfort from others who were also feeling their losses. He started working with Obito Uchiha and formed a new Akatsuki made up of S-rank shinobis. and send them to a different village to capture the tailed beast and later planned to release them on every village, once every person experience pain they will not want to experience it again as the result they will stop fighting hence peace will be made.
