Tokyo Revengers is a manga by Ken Wakui. It was published in the Weekly Shōnen Magazine from March 2017 to January 2020. In April 2021, it became a TV series on Liden Films. The manga won the 44th Kodansha Manga Award for the shōnen category in 2020.

Tokyo Revengers Charcaters

It started due to the Tokyo Manji gang (TOMAN). It is centered on 26-year-old boys whose 12-year-old girlfriend Hinata Tachibana and her brother Naoto Tachibana were killed. Our main character Takemichi Hanagaki((花垣 武道) time-traveled 12 years back all of sudden where all of this started. He became successful in saving Naoto. After coming back to the future, he came to know that to save his girlfriend Hinata he needs to stop TOMAN’s to be a large group. Therefore he once again went to past. The genre of this movie is not time travel although the main character travels in time. But it has a delinquent genre that is related to school bullies and gang wars. As the delinquent genre is underrated and very few mangas are based on this. But the story of Tokyo revengers proved that if the story is beautifully explained then it could be a great genre.

What is the story of Tokyo Revengers?

This manga has all the required aspects. The main character is not powerful yet determined to never give up. Two awful characters Miki and Draken, gang wars to an unbelievable level, bloodshed. From the first episode, it is clear that it is a delinquent genre due to the death of Hinata and Naoto. There is very little comedy to make sure that without adding any other angle to it, this genre can also be impactful. It is difficult to understand that who is the villain and who is the hero. Because this story is above that. It is about takemichi that through his actions or deeds how many lives he will be able to save. If you still want to know about the villain then it is in front of you but it’s up to you that you see good or bad in him.

1.      Takemichi Hanagaki((花垣 武道)

He is the protagonist. He is not powerful yet always has the light of hope. It is clear that his aim is not only to save Hinata. But to save everyone and find the reason why MIKI and TOMAN became like that. His character is a bit childish, but he put forward his stand every time.

2.      Mikey:

He is the leader of the TOMAN group. He is the reason due to which Hinata is killed. But Takemichi believes that he cannot kill anyone in the future. He has childish behaviour and also does not want to go to darkness. The story basically revolves around him.

3.      Chifuyu:

His character is explained later in the manga. But the quality which impressed the spectators are its loyalty. He trusts his friends even after Baji beats him. We can see that he became a good friend of Takemichi. Like Takemichi he is also not powerful nor intelligent, but he is also determined to help his friends.

4.      Draken:

He is an orphan. But he considered TOMAN and Miki his family. This increased his importance in the manga. Although the idea to make TOMAN is of Baji and its leader is MIKI. But to maintain this group is the responsibility of Draken. He is like an elder brother to MIKI and there to save him from the darkness.

5.      Keisuke Baji:

He appears to be the main evilest character. Because whenever he is displayed on the screen, we can clearly observe his bad intentions. His personality is to influence everyone. He does not get himself directly involved in anything or a fight. In the start, he was captain of TOMAN. He is not yet powerful but has a personality to manipulate the powerful characters.

Tokyo Revengers

Most of the characters are still not completely explained.
